TT-Rec is a website created by WhatIsLoaf, which hosts a variety of tools used to assist with recording time trials on Dolphin Emulator.

History

What inspired Loaf to create the site?

Pages

Page on the site include:

Essential Codes

This page contains the following basic Gecko Codes which are commonly used for recording. Clicking each box takes the user to the code's corresponding page on mariokartwii.com.

  • Live Replay
  • Copy Mii
  • Remove Music
  • License Unlocker
  • Speedometer

Ghost Manager

Hailed as one of the most useful tools to ever grace the community, Ghost Manager lets users perform several tasks related to importing and exporting RKG (ghost) and rksys.dat (savegame) files. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Generating a blank rksys.dat file
  • Uploading an rksys.dat file to import time trial RKGs
  • Uploading an rksys.dat file to export time trial RKGs
  • Uploading an rksys.dat file to delete time trial RKGs
  • Uploading an rksys.dat file to change its assigned region

The tool allows users to modify which ghosts are saved to any of four licences, and within each licence, users can choose to import/export from the 'Personal Best' section, or the 'Downloaded' section. Differences are displayed in the table below:

RKG Licence Save Location Differences
Personal Best Downloaded
Max 1 per track Max 32 per track
Can be overwritten by setting a PB Cannot be overwritten by setting a PB
Visible on all 4 licences Only visible on the current licence
Visible on the Mario Kart Channel Not visible on the Mario Kart Channel

There are 32 download ghost slots for the entire licence, so if all 32 slots are used on 1 track, there will no 0 slots remaining for other tracks.

Custom Top 10

This tool allows users to generate an accurate top 10 leaderboard on the Mario Kart Channel without using the Nintendo WFC service or Wiimmfi. The user can choose to upload ghost files, in which case the tool will automatically fill in details based on data stored within the RKG files, or, manually input data entries. The leaderboard is merely saved in the form of a Gecko Code. After selecting the desired region for the Gecko Code, it can be copied from the code generator box on-screen. The tool allows you to:

  • Change the track within in the leaderboard heading
  • Change the ranking type to Worldwide, Regional, Country, or custom
  • Change the region to the relevant continent or country
  • Highlight a particular run shown on the rankings in-game

MSG Editor

This tool allows users to modify any text shown (or even just stored) in Mario Kart Wii. Users can find their desired text by searching for its ID, or the text itself. The tool lets you modify/add:

  • Font size
  • Colour
  • Unicode
  • Line breaks
  • Current player name
  • Hex

Once in-game text(s) have been modified, a Gecko Code can be generated akin to the Custom Top 10 tool.

Input Display

This page contains redirect links to GitHub pages for WhatIsLoaf's Input Display program, and SwareJonge's MKW Dolphin Speedometer Overlay.

GCT Maker

This tool allows users to paste in at least 1 constructed Gecko Code, its name, and its relevant Wii Game ID (RMCE01 for Mario Kart Wii), and the tool will download a formatted GCT (Gecko Code Type) file.

How To

This section contains tutorials with step-by-step instructions on how to use Ghost Manager, Custom Top 10, MSG Editor, and GCT Maker, along with how to record a time trial on both Dolphin Emulator and console.
