2021 was hosted by [[kierio04]], with help from [[Wade]], [[Jellopuff]], and [[vabold]]. It lasted for 24 tasks, and concluded as planned when the year ended.

Like its predecessor, it was broken into 5 sets of 4-5 tasks. Set 1 was won by Jellopuff, Set 2 was won by Wade, Set 3 was again won by Jellopuff, Set 4 was won by [[DashQC]], Set 5 was once again won by Jellopuff, and the year as a whole was also won by Jellopuff.

With a backlog of ambitious ideas, the competition entered a more experimental phase, with tasks involving gecko codes, vehicle edits, and custom tracks seeing a significant increase. This culminated in the successes of [[Task 9 2021|Hman's Deathrun 2]] and the [[Task 11 2021|first CT Jams collab]].

Inspired by Super Mario 64, the competition introduced [[TAS Competition#Result stream|result streams]]. Later in the year would be the first ever multi-commentator streams. It was also the first competition to introduce collab tasks with teams of 3, with the final set consisting entirely of collab tasks, and the final task allowing teams of 4.

2021 started during a massive uptick in popularity that started in late 2020, and featured two tasks with over 30 competitors - a feat only Super Mario 64 had achieved before. It is considered to have had the most consistent run of original task concepts, as well as having two of the greatest result streams of all time.
