The current strategy for UR 3lap is to perform the ultra shortcut. The idea is to bounce off the Mushroom (object) at the beginning of the track, then wall ride on the mountain wall to the left of the finish line. If you do this correctly, you will perform the ultra shortcut 3 times in quick succession. The best way to go about this is to use a property of mushrooms where if you hop on the frame you bounce then commit to a direction, instead of the rotation lasting a fixed amount of time, it will continue indefinitely. Additionally, you can adjust the rate at which you rotate by changing your pitch. So, the first mushroom is used to accelerate from the start, which saves a good amount over the start boost (both in the boosts' lengths and acceleration rates) Then you turn and brake, so you can turn around faster. Once turned around, you hop off the very edge of the track, use the second mushroom mid-air, and hop on the frame you bounce off the mushroom. Since you used the third mushroom before bouncing, you are now locked at 100 IV and will be able to wall ride. By changing vertical inputs accordingly, you can perform the ultra shortcut 3 times and complete the race. The first time, you tilt back (i.e. taildive) and get rejected from the wall near the last KCP. This lets you rotate fully (using the third mushroom to stick to the wall) such that you enter lap 2 as you get rejected from the wall yet again. The second time, you tilt forward (i.e. nosedive) to stick to the wall, and tilt back again to be rejected from the wall near the last KCP. Without a mushroom, you are sent towards the finish line banner, which rejects you back towards the last KCP again, while you are still facing towards the finish line. This results in a fast rejection from the wall near the last KCP sending you directly to the finish line. | The current strategy for UR 3lap is to perform the ultra shortcut. The current strategy for NG flap is | The current strategy for NG flap is to drive 1 lap normally. It uses the same general driving strategies as the NG 3lap, however uses 2 additional mushrooms to pass through two sections locked at 100 IV, where they are normally locked at 73 IV. The first of these sections is the shroomless shortcut at the beginning, as is done in the NU 3lap and flap, however you land back on the bridge. The second of these sections is the last half of the cave, where you can use a mushroom on the first green mushroom of the right path, and take that boost to a red mushroom, which gives you a 100 IV lock and a trick exiting the cave.

* | * By bonking onto the wall below the bouncy part of the first mushroom, you can enter a BR state, then upon bouncing you hop, which sends you backwards. Using a mushroom during the BR, you can propel yourself onto the mountain wall with the 100 IV lock, saving over a second.<br>
* You can ride the mountain wall more efficiently by performing the taildive rejection from lap 1 shroomless on all 3 laps. This lets you use an additional mushroom when approaching the BR strat.
* | NU 3lap<br> | ||
* Performing the "cliff climb" shortcut on all three laps would save multiple seconds.<br>
* | * Performing the last turn "wall ride" shortcut with the trick boost mushroom skip strategy is a good amount faster than bouncing over the top.
NU Flap<br> | |||
* | * Performing a DLC to begin the lap in front of the finish line.<br>
* Tricking off two mushrooms upon landing in the cave after the "cliff climb" shortcut has been shown to be faster.
NG 3lap<br> | |||
* Faster start slide exists than the one used in the current TAS<br>
* More optimization has been done at the beginning of lap 1, and can similarly be done in the rest of the TAS.
NG Flap<br> | |||
* Using EV gained from simply drifting into the air with an ODB, you can carry sideways momentum throughout the cave, making ODB faster. This is allowed in No Glitch TASes as it is a purely natural ODB mechanic, unlike something like superhopping.

UR 3lap<br> | |||
* | * Thomas claims Sugarscoot has the fastest movement on the wall of any bike. This has not been confirmed, so all work towards the BR strat has been done with Mach Bike.<br>
* Using Mini Beast to rotate on the wall significantly faster than any bikes has not been tested, so it is not known whether it saves more than you would lose from not doing the BR strat, or if it saves any time at all.
NU 3lap<br> | |||
* | * Using ODB is not confirmed faster for NU 3lap, though is suspected to be.
NU Flap<br> | |||
* Using ODB is not confirmed faster for NU flap either, though is also suspected to be.<br>
* By performing a DLC and then going back onto the wall, you can enter the lap in a trick boost to prevent having to accelerate from 0. However, doing the wallride in this way currently either forces you to accelerate from having backwards momentum (i.e. worse than starting at 0) or enter the lap on the wall (i.e. defeating the point of performing the delayed lap count).
NG 3lap<br> | |||
* If the ODB drifting momentum strategy can be performed efficiently enough, it could be faster in a 3lap environment.
