Dry Dry Ruins
Dry Dry Ruins is the first course of the Special Cup in Mario Kart Wii.
Overview
* Flap is one of the laps from a 3lap
Type | Unrestricted | No Ultra | No Glitch |

3lap | 1:38.667 | ||
Flap | 20.058 | 30.243* |
Dry Dry Ruins has a 3lap viable ultra shortcut, which uses supergrinding, wallclips, respawning to save time, a zipper bypass, a delayed lap count, and dayclipping. Outside the ultra shortcut, it also currently benefits from the use of superhopping and supergrinding in both 3lap and flap categories, while also the use of supersliding in flap categories. Hence, it has three 3lap and three flap categories. However, no TAS exists for an Unrestricted 3lap which implements the ultra shortcut, nor a No Ultra 3lap which implements glitches (and is faster than the No Glitch 3lap), so the No Glitch 3lap is both the Unrestricted 3lap record and No Ultra 3lap record for the time being. Additionally, no TAS exists for a No Ultra Flap which implements glitches, so the No Glitch Flap is the No Ultra Flap record for the time being.
Unrestricted Flap
The current strategy for the UR flap is to perform the ultra shortcut with a delayed lap count.
The premise of the route is as follows:
- Use the first mushroom to get a high trick on one of the fallen pillars, allowing you to drive on the outside of the track.
- Get into a dayclip state, and stay in it while driving forwards to the raised offroad near the finish line.
- Use the second mushroom to get a floor clip and a mid-air wallclip to reach the bridge over the oasis, allowing for a delayed lap count.
- Perform a shroomless zipper bypass using RFH to get on the outside of the track again.
- Get into a dayclip state, and stay in it while driving backwards to the ground-level offroad finish line.
- Use the third mushroom to get a floor clip, enter the lap from in front, and respawn on the last turn.
- Drive backwards to hit the last KCP and finish the lap.
